4worldlovers: Dr. Fujie grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii, where his favorite outdoor activities were surfing, fishing, and free diving. In addition to his love for nature, he was active in baseball, scouting, student government, church, and the YMCA Model Legislature.


He attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa and received his Bachelor of Arts in Zoology and a Master of Science in Animal Science. During his undergraduate studies, he spent a semester as a biology teaching assistant at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. One of the best summers of his life was working on the Kona Coast for the UH Sea Grant Marine Options Program as a research assistant. He was part of a team of five scientists that completed a biological survey of the coastal brackish ponds from Puoko to Keahole. The discovery of a new species of invertebrate was the highlight of his summer.

At Washington State University, Dr. Fujie did a concurrent degree program and received his DVM and PhD. His doctoral research focused on the effects of a new antimicrobial drug on the renal function of poultry. He then gained practical experience by working at Sorrento Animal Hospital in Portland, Oregon, for two years after graduation.


Returning to Hawaii, Dr. Fujie worked for the State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture for a year before practicing small animal medicine for 20 years at Kahala Pet Hospital. He also served on the State of Hawaii Veterinary Licensing Board and the Executive Board of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association. He was also was an active participant in the Hawaii Pet Expo planning committee for over 15 years.

Dr. Fujie is known as "Vet on the Set" on the Hawaii News Now Sunrise morning show (3rd Tuesday of the month). He is also the Vice President of The Cat Fanciers of Hawaii and active in the cat fanciers' scene, where his Siamese cats often take home numerous awards.

Dr. Fujie and his wife, Donna, share their home with several cats (Lani, Tuxedo, Heggy, Mattie, Taggart, Siri, Kaimana, Bluebelle, Mr. Aloha, Hurricane Lane, Jenny, and a few babies waiting to go to new homes), who are living a life of leisure. Two of the cats were feral cats but now will only eat select types of food. His late dog, Sunny, was an abandoned pet that he adopted while in veterinary school and they traveled the Northwest together. She acted in an episode of the television show Jake and the Fatman and was also in a couple of Liberty House ads.

Dr. Goo is a Honolulu native and a honors graduate of Punahou School, where she excelled academically. She completed two years of undergraduate studies at the University of Hawaii before spending a year at Oregon State University as a National Student Exchange Program participant. As a recipient of the WICHE scholarship, she continued her studies at the Colorado State University College of Biomedical Science and Veterinary Medicine, earning her B.S. and D.V.M. degrees concurrently. During her time as a student, she interned with various veterinary specialists in Boulder, CO, Simi Valley, & Los Angeles, expanding her knowledge about ophthalmology, exotic animals, and dentistry. She also participated in the AquaVet Program, studying marine veterinary medicine.

After graduation, Dr. Goo completed an additional year of training in small animal medicine and surgery at the Pittsford Animal Hospital Internship Program in Rochester, New York. She returned to Honolulu and has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 24 years. Her practice has expanded to include holistic medicine, and she completed the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society's program in 2012, enabling her to offer animal acupuncture and integrative medicine. Dr. Goo is passionate about working with all kinds of small animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, birds, and chameleons.

At home, Dr. Goo is a proud caregiver to two cats (Pepe & Poki), two lovebirds (Parsley & Peachie), and two chickens (Wally & Sally). When she's not caring for her furry and feathered friends, she enjoys crafting and gardening.
