In 1946, Helen Chock opened the doors to Helena's Hawaiian Food, a humble eatery on North King St. in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Over the past 64 years Helena's Hawaiian Food has been serving the local community quality Hawaiian cuisine. In 2000, the James Beard Foundation awarded Helena's Hawaiian Food the Regional Classic Award. Helena's is one of a handful of restaurants in Hawaii to receive this distinctive award. After nearly 55 years, the restaurant was relocated to its current location on 1240 N. School Street.

Helena's remains the simple and unpretentious eatery it was over 6 decades ago. The restaurant is now run by Helen's grandson, Craig Katsuyoshi.

Helena's Hawaiian Food started off as a business just like many. Over the years, the founder raised and taught her children the value of hard work, perseverance and passion. This business not only became a legacy of her own, but one for her entire family. At the same time, it became a fixture in the local culture and a place that helped to cement together the community that it served.

Live contemporary and Hawaiian music by Oahu’s most talented local musicians. Every night, 5:30pm-8:30pm and Sundays, 10am-1pm.

Join The Art Kalahiki Band every Friday from 5:30pm to 8:30pm and enjoy fireworks from across the bay at 8pm! We have plenty of seating but you can also bring your beach chairs and blankets and set-up on the Waikiki lawn!

For amazing ambiance on the beach with oceanfront, park and city skyline views, Waikiki’s Barefoot Beach Café is the perfect spot for your wedding, corporate and social events!

As of September 2022, we require a buyout of our oceanfront lanai for all onsite events with a rental fee of $1,500 (up to three hours of service) plus a catering minimum of $6,000 which can include coordination fee, food, beverage, styled settings, in-house florals/décor, rentals and additional staffing.
