The UHM School of Architecture offers a global collaborative approach to improving the built and natural environment founded on intellectual inquiry, creative problem solving, and outreach with a commitment to prominence in innovative architectural education, design excellence, sustainability, and research with a focus on Hawaii, the Pacific, and Asia.


The BEnvD is a four-year, pre-professional undergraduate degree centered on the design of built environments. This program offers a foundation for students who intend to pursue careers and/or graduate studies in design and building professions, including Architecture, Landscape Architecture and related disciplines.


Hawai'i’s only professional landscape architecture program. The field of landscape architecture comprises the analysis, planning, design, and management of natural and built environments.


The program is designed for students holding a four-year preprofessional architecture degree that are interested in completing a professional graduate-level architecture degree to prepare them to enter the profession. The program may be completed in two years and culminates in a Capstone Project that combines design and applied research.


The program integrates coursework with professional office practice and provides a capstone project of research and design. Future professionals from this program are well equipped to address regional architectural issues in the Asia Pacific arena.

In partnership with Tongji University College of Architecture and Urban Planning (Shanghai, China), the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa School of Architecture has implemented a DArch-Global Track (China) as part of its graduate professional program in architecture.

The Historic Preservation Graduate Certificate Program (HPGCP) is a 15 credit-hour program, which may be taken alone or in conjunction with another graduate degree. Students in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning, and other disciplines are encouraged to apply.

In addition to the various international study options offered by the school, including the DArch-Global Track and travel as part of ARCH course requirements or options, all students have access to more international study opportunities through the Manoa International Exchange Program (MIX) and UHM Study Abroad Center (SAC).
