After individually completing Psychology degrees with highest honors, we met at prestigious Yo San University in Los Angeles while studying Oriental Medicine in 1997, continuing on with clinical internships in Santa Fe, NM and at Xi Yuan Hospital in Beijing, China, the worlds largest integrative hospital for Oriental Medicine.

Our first project together was the development and operation of Longevity Emporium, a Wellness Center and Herbal Tearoom in Santa Fe, NM. Longevity Emporium’s unique tonic and herbal elixir bar quickly became a popular meeting place of the local healing arts community, earning us a 'Best of Santa Fe' award in the first year of operation.

In 2003, we were invited by Celebrity Cruise Lines to develop and operate 'Acupuncture at Sea', the world's first and exclusive acupuncture clinic on a cruise ship. Our maiden voyage, incidentally, was from Vancouver to Honolulu and turned out to be a huge success. After a series of trial cruises 'Acupuncture at Sea' was rolled out to the entire fleet and is now offered worldwide on the majority of cruise ships.

After turning over the operation of 'Acupuncture at Sea' to Steiner Leisure Ltd., a global provider of spa and wellness services, we were invited to develop and operate an Acupuncture and Holistic Support Program for the students at Spring Creek Lodge Academy in Montana, at the time the largest boarding school for troubled teens in the U.S.

The program was very popular with students, parents, and staff alike, and a controlled study we performed, proved highly successful and was published in several journals of alternative medicine.

After four rewarding years with our students, the school was restructured into smaller units, leading to our move to Hawaii where Carmela took over the management of the Wellness and Supplement Department at Down to Earth, Hawaii's original health food store.

During her time at Down to Earth, Carmela attended countless seminars and symposia on nutritional supplementation and preventive healthcare. As Down to Earth's respective spokesperson she was a sought after lecturer and was frequently interviewed on public health concerns.

Carmela and Felix, are certified in a variety of physical therapies and bodywork, including Reiki, Shiatsu, Tuina, and Deep Tissue Massage. Both are long term Qigong practitioners and meditators.

In 2010, Felix authored a book about living in alignment with Universal Spirit, titled ‘The Art of Navigation’. It was published worldwide in 5 different languages.
